Low-Odour Fertiliser for Indoor Plants | Rich Roots
Feed your indoor plants without the usual manure smell
Houseplants and balcony pots deserve a straightforward feeding routine. But some traditional manure-based fertilisers have a strong smell that doesn't belong in a living room.
Rich Roots is 100% dried mealworm frass from Queensland mealworm farming. It is dry, low in odour and easy to measure into potting soil. It has a mild earthy smell, not a promise of absolutely no smell.
How it works in everyday plant care
- Measure: for a small 10–15cm pot, start with 1–2 level teaspoons. A 20–25cm pot takes around one level tablespoon.
- Apply: sprinkle onto the soil surface and mix lightly into the top layer, keeping it off foliage and tender stems.
- Water: water the plant in as usual. Reassess around four weeks later during active growth, rather than feeding on a rigid schedule.
If your potting mix already contains fertiliser, a new plant may not need extra feeding yet. For hydroponic or semi-hydroponic pots, do not substitute these soil application rates for a formulated water-soluble nutrient.
What's in the pouch?
Just mealworm frass. An independent analysis measured 3.71% nitrogen, 1.13% phosphorus, 1.88% potassium and 38.5% carbon, together with other naturally occurring elements. Nutrients can vary with natural batches. Frass supplies nutrients and organic matter; it is not a guaranteed fix for yellow leaves, pests or problems caused by light and watering.
