What is mealworm frass?

Frass is the dry material mealworms leave behind as they feed — their droppings, along with shed exoskeletons. It contains organic matter, naturally occurring nutrients and chitin, and it has been fertilising soil for as long as there have been insects.

Which one should I get?

Small Garden Pouch (110g) — a few pots on the balcony, herbs by the kitchen window, or trying frass for the first time.

Large Garden Pouch (360g) — veggie patches, raised beds and bigger pots. Better value if you’re feeding regularly.

Plant Feed Sachet Box (12 × 10g) — pre-measured single feeds, so there’s nothing to scoop or judge.

How do I actually use it?

Sprinkle around the base of the plant, mix it lightly into the top of the soil, and water in well. That’s the whole method.

Rough amounts: 1–2 teaspoons for small pots, about a tablespoon for medium pots, 1–2 tablespoons for large ones. Garden beds — sprinkle lightly around the root zone. Reapply every 2–4 weeks while things are growing.

Does it smell?

Very little. It’s dry and earthy rather than pungent, which is why it suits indoor pots and balconies where composted manures are difficult to use.

As a raw natural product there is some batch-to-batch variation.

Can I use it around my household and edible garden?

Yes, when used as directed. Apply it to the soil rather than to the leaves, wash your hands afterwards, keep the pouch out of reach of children and pets, and rinse herbs, fruit and vegetables before eating.
